The Berkeley Scholars Consortium is a network and community of campus programs that promote the academic success of UC Berkeley students.

Consortium membership includes the directors and other leadership from student-serving programs across campus. The Consortium is sponsored by Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Oliver O’Reilly and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Stephen C. Sutton, and is advised by a faculty advisory committee chaired by Professor tyrone hayes. The Consortium aims to:

  • Raise the visibility of Consortium member programs among students, staff, and faculty;
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of member programs, especially those programs serving students from low-income, first-generation and/or underrepresented backgrounds;
  • Effectively communicate accomplishments of member programs to potential funders and facilitate engagement between programs and funders;
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for supporting student populations underserved in the current program ecosystem;
  • Foster a professional community of practice around program design and assessment; student recruitment, advising and mentoring; data collection and analysis; fundraising and alumni relations; and other topics; and
  • Advise campus leadership and stakeholders on policies that impact member programs and their students.

The Consortium is preparing for a pilot launch in Spring 2024. For more information about the Berkeley Scholars Consortium or if your program would like to participate, email vpue@berkeley.edu.

Please note that while the vision and mission of the Consortium will grow to include all academic support programs, in the pilot phase attention will be restricted to STEM-focused programs.
