This Pulse Survey asks about your thoughts on academic advising, interacting with campus leadership, and overall well-being. A link to the Pulse Survey is below and appears as a task in CalCentral. The survey is confidential and results will be displayed only in the aggregate. The survey closes on Tuesday, March 22.

Results from Spring 2022 Pulse Survey #1
The report from the first student pulse survey of spring semester is now available. Below are some key findings:
- Results show high levels of agreement from students that they felt supported (71% agreement), and that campus (72% agreement) and instructors (89% agreement) communicated well at the start of the semester. Students looking for support can visit the Student Success Toolkit and find more information on the campus coronavirus website.
- Reports of symptoms of depression (28% undergrads and 19% graduate students) and anxiety (36% undergrads and 28% graduate students) among students were lower at the start of Spring 2022 compared with the same time period in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. However, these numbers are still high. Counselors at University Health Services (UHS) at the Tang Center remain available for support: Counseling and Psychological Services website or (510) 642-9494 (after hours counseling line (855) 817-5667).
- Roughly a third of students report the mixture of in-person vs remote student services is about right, with variations depending on the service. Departments are evaluating this feedback to assess how best to deliver services.
- Requests for more remote access are strongest for Cal Student Central, registration, financial aid and fellowship services, as well as immigration support. All students can visit the Cal Student Central Virtual Front Desk (includes support for financial aid and registration). Graduate students can speak with Graduate Fellowship Administrators in-person Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and remotely Monday and Friday. The Berkeley International Office offers Virtual Drop-In Student Advising.
- Undergraduate students report a strong preference for more in-person interaction for research opportunities, community-building activities, and student organization meetings. Graduate students prefer in-person interaction for community-building activities, mental health resources, and physical healthcare needs.
- Based on the survey, we take this opportunity to encourage students interested in discovery experiences, including research, to explore the Discovery Hub and connect with the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarships. Students are also encouraged to consult with their college and department.
- We encourage graduate students to use the new Peer Support Provider program to make an appointment to speak with a senior graduate student who can assist them with navigating support and resources on campus.
